This ring draws from whirlpool motifs used in Miao ornamentation, where continuous curves and rotational outlines shape the organisation of the pattern. The design adapts these elements into a circular arrangement suited to the scale and stability required of a ring.
Coiled forms are organised around a central axis, allowing the composition to sit evenly on the hand. Shaped in 990 silver using traditional wire-coiling techniques, the elements emphasise balance and continuity, enabling the form to remain coherent through daily wear.
The ring presents a historic ornamental structure in a distilled contemporary form, retaining clear reference to its source while resolving naturally in use.
Butterfly Spiral Form Ring:
This ring draws from the butterfly form, a motif found widely in Miao silverwork. Its paired spirals are organised into a centred structure that sits evenly on the hand, adapted here into a compact form suited to everyday wear.
The form is shaped from coiled wire in 990 silver. Each spiral is formed and joined by hand before being integrated into the ring structure, allowing the surface and outline to remain balanced through use.
